Ashley Balderrama is Puerto Rican-Mexican-American documentary photojournalist who was born, raised, and currently still based in Los Angeles. When White Supremacist demonstrations began actively taking place in her hometown of Tujunga, she began documenting their explosive gatherings. From there, she began actively documenting protests in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County areas, and she continues to do so, using her camera to bring attention to the ongoing social justice organizing in Southern California.

Ashley is a regular contributor to LAist, documenting a variety of events in the Los Angeles area. She is the West Regional Chair of the National Press Photographer Association, as well as a member of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.

In January 2021, Ashley published a zine of her images from a violent and tense protest that occurred in Tujunga in August 2020. The zine showcases the the clash between police, local social justice activists, proud boys, known white supremacists, and local and non-local Trump supporters.

Ashley also started her own Photography small business in 2018, Moments By Ash. Servicing the Los Angeles area with photography services for events/weddings/parties, lifestyle portraits, automobile, and professional Business headshots - momentsbyash.com
